Craftsman Daily Wage in Egypt 2026 — What Trades Earn, and How to Earn More
Last updated:
A master tradesman's daily wage in Egypt in 2026 depends on the trade and the area: a plumber in Cairo and Alexandria earns around 500–1,000 EGP a day, a painter 800–1,100 EGP, a carpenter 900–1,200 EGP, and a helper 400–700 EGP — figures compiled from published sources and deliberately conservative. But the day rate isn't the ceiling: a good tradesman who prices by the job, has reviews and photos of his work, and replies fast can fill his week and choose his work. This guide gives you the real numbers, how to get more jobs, and how Eidak guarantees you get paid.

This table is built from figures published in 2024–2026 on tradesmen's day rates in Egypt, and we deliberately took the conservative end: the top of the published ranges is usually new-city and large-project work, and we don't want to promise you a number the market won't pay.
For context: the official average daily wage across the whole construction and building sector, per CAPMAS (Egypt's statistics agency), was around 276 EGP in Q1 2026. That's an average across everyone in the sector — including unskilled labour and salaried staff — so a skilled master tradesman should sit well above it.
Trades we couldn't find a recent, reliable source for (electrician, tiler, AC technician) are left out of the table rather than guessed.
| Service | Indicative range | Notes |
|---|---|---|
These are indicative ranges for comparison only and vary by details, area and timing. Eidak doesn't set a fixed price — professionals bid and you compare.
Day rate or per job? How freelance work is priced
In a workshop or for a contractor you usually get a fixed day rate. But in home work — a leak, a light fitting, a door, a room to paint — the customer isn't looking for a "day rate", they're asking "what will this job cost?". That's exactly what separates a freelance tradesman's income from a day-rate worker's.
Priced by the job, two or three small jobs in one day can beat a full day rate — especially in the same area, without losing the day to transport. The reverse is also true: price a big job as if it were small and you'll lose two days for one day's money.
The rule: before you quote, count the real time (from leaving home to getting back), transport, and any small materials you'll bring. If the job takes half a day, its price must cover at least half a day rate — otherwise you're working at a loss.
How to get more jobs and raise your income as a technician
The busiest tradesmen aren't always the cheapest. They're the ones a customer trusts at first glance. These are the things that make the difference:
- Reviews beat any advert: every job you finish well and get a good review on makes the next one easier. On your first few jobs, work for the rating more than for the money.
- Photograph your work: a before-and-after of a repaired bathroom or a painted wall convinces more than any words. Keep a real portfolio of your own work.
- Fast replies win: a customer who posts a task usually picks from the first offers that arrive. Reply a day later and the job is gone.
- Write a detailed offer: "I'll replace the mixer and fit a new valve, materials on you, about an hour" beats "OK sir". The customer wants to feel you understood the job.
- Price fairly: you don't need to be the cheapest — an offer far below market scares customers off, and an inflated one sends them looking elsewhere. A fair price that covers your work is the one that lasts.
- Ask before you quote: if the description is thin, ask in the chat and request a photo. Better than arriving to find the job is twice what you agreed.
- Specialise: "plumber specialising in drain clearing and leak detection" is remembered; "I do everything" isn't.
- Punctuality and tidiness: arriving on time and cleaning up after yourself are small things, but they're what earn top reviews and repeat customers.
How Eidak works for tradesmen
Eidak is an Egyptian platform that connects people who need jobs done with tradesmen and technicians near them. The customer posts the job with details and photos, you send your offer at the price that works for you, and they choose.
- You receive 100% of your bid. No commission is deducted from your money.
- The 10% platform fee is paid by the customer on top of your bid. If you bid 200 EGP, the customer pays 220 EGP and you receive the full 200 EGP.
- The minimum task value on the platform is 200 EGP.
- An offer stays live for 24 hours; if the customer doesn't choose within that time, it expires.
- You can have up to 20 open offers at once — so pick jobs you can genuinely do.
- You can change an offer's price up to 3 times, so price it right from the start.
- Registration is free, with no monthly subscription: sign up with your phone number, then verify your identity with your national ID — which reassures a customer before they open their home to you.
Guaranteed payment — what "escrow" means
The biggest headache for any freelance tradesman: you finish the job and the customer says "tomorrow", or haggles after the work is done. On Eidak that doesn't happen, because the money is paid before you start.
As soon as the customer accepts your offer, they pay the platform and the amount is held in escrow. The job is only confirmed to you once payment goes through — so you're heading to a job whose money genuinely exists.
When you finish, the customer confirms the work is done and the amount goes to your account. If they're slow to confirm, it's released automatically 24 hours after the job is marked complete — so nobody can hold your money hostage.
Commitment runs both ways: accept a job and cancel it without reason and you get a strike; 3 strikes means a 7-day suspension. That's what lets customers trust the tradesmen on the platform — which works in your favour.

Frequently asked questions
- What does a plumber earn per day in Egypt in 2026?
- In Cairo and Alexandria, a master plumber's day rate is around 500–1,000 EGP, usually less in the provinces and smaller towns. That figure is conservative because it rests on a 2024 source and prices have risen since. In home work, most plumbers price by the job rather than by the day.
- What does a painter earn per day?
- A master painter's day rate is around 800–1,100 EGP, and a helper's around 400–700 EGP. But a lot of painting is priced per square metre or per room rather than per day — so learn to quote both ways.
- What does a carpenter earn per day?
- A master carpenter's day rate is around 900–1,200 EGP on a conservative reading. New cities and large projects pay more; small workshops and the provinces pay less.
- How do I work as a freelance tradesman, or find trade work online?
- Sign up on a platform that connects you directly with customers, like Eidak, and build a profile with your trade, your area and photos of your work. Then follow the tasks posted near you and send detailed offers at a fair price. On your first few jobs, focus on the rating — that's what brings the work afterwards.
- Does Eidak take a commission from the tradesman?
- No. You receive your full bid. The 10% platform fee is paid by the customer on top: if you bid 200 EGP, the customer pays 220 EGP and you receive 200 EGP.
- What guarantees the customer will pay?
- The customer pays before the work starts, and the money is held in escrow on the platform. Once you finish and they confirm, it goes to your account; if they don't confirm, it's released automatically 24 hours after the job is marked complete.
- How many tasks can I bid on at once?
- Up to 20 open offers at the same time. Each offer stays live for 24 hours, and you can change its price up to 3 times.
- How can I increase my income as a technician?
- Reply to tasks quickly, write detailed offers, photograph your work before and after, specialise in something you can be known for, and group jobs in the same area on the same day so you don't lose time to transport. Good reviews let you raise your price over time.
